Asking for Trouble 2017

2017 marks my 10th annual Asking for Trouble at the Ensemble Studio Theatre!  Every year, EST’s under-30 playwrights program, Youngblood, launches the season with this riotous and magical speed theatre festival.  25 playwrights draw their actors, director, title and inspiration item out of a hat, have a week to write a 10-15 minute play, have 5-6 hours to rehearse the cast (including tech), and then launch 3 fully produced performances.  This year’s inspiration items were amendments to the Constitution. The gobsmackingly talented writer Brittany Allen drew myself, and the amazing Erin Cherry, Michael Grew & Richard Thieriot for her cast, Dara Molina for her director, Masc 4 Masc as her title, and the 3rd Amendment as her inspiration.
